Fortunately, I discovered a solution. A fellow professional speaker told me about the DISC system, which provides an assessment tool that reveals our dominant communication style, and gives guidance on how we can relate productively with those who have different preferred styles.

At first, I was skeptical, not believing that a very brief multiple choice questionnaire could reveal much about my communication style. Yet when I completed the DISC form and then read the report, my doubts disappeared. Not only did I apply what I learned to workplace colleagues, I gained insights into friends and even family members.
